Grants:
Whitetails Unlimited provides assistance through a grant process. Grants are limited because the organization utilizes the majority of its revenues to financially support its ongoing programs and initiatives. Grants can range from under $500 up to $2,500 (and beyond), with cost-share partnerships taking high priority. Any grant of $5,000 or more requires a completed W-9 Form. Note: Grants must be used for the specific project that was submitted for review. Any unused funds must be returned to Whitetails Unlimited.
Purpose:
Our mission is to provide grants for
programs and initiatives that preserve the hunting tradition for future generations, promote the acquisition, enhancement, and management of wildlife habitat; and develop and promote educational programs related to wildlife conservation and the shooting sports.
Recipient Type:
Past recipients include 4-H Shooting Sports Program, governmental natural resource and wildlife agencies, National Archery in the Schools Program, universities, Catch-A-Dream, and state hunter education and shooting programs.
Limitations:
The following do not qualify for grant funding: individuals (excluding scholarships), private businesses, deficit funding, commercial ventures, and projects and activities that are typically not open to the general public.
Policy:
The organization has had a grant program since 1982. Decisions are made by committee. Unsolicited grant requests are considered.
Guidelines:
All grant requests must:
- Foster the mission of Whitetails Unlimited.
- Be creative, innovative, and cost-justified.
- Require organizational support i.e. represents a real need.
- Have a schedule indicating the project phases, monitored progress, and estimated completion date.
To Apply:
Submit online a completed Whitetails Unlimited Grant Application with supporting documentation.
Documentation:
An IRS 501(c)(3) Determination Letter, completed W-9 Form (when applicable), and any other pertinent documentation (i.e. receipts, invoices, photos, etc.).
Non-monetary Assistance:
When appropriate grants may be comprised of Whitetails Unlimited goods.
Application Deadlines:
First and fifteenth of each month.
Notification:
Two weeks following committee meeting. If denied, the organization will send a letter of rejection.
